About the Lesson
Nouns Around Us: Common and Proper Nouns
Nouns are naming words used to identify people, places, things, animals, and events. There are two types of nouns discussed in this lesson: common nouns and proper nouns. Common nouns are general names of people, places, things, animals, and events. They usually begin with a lowercase letter, except when they start a sentence. Proper nouns are specific names of people, places, things, animals, and events. They always begin with a capital letter.
Through this lesson, Grade 2 learners will develop their ability to recognize, identify, and differentiate common nouns from proper nouns using simple words, sentences, pictures, and enjoyable learning activities.
Learning Objectives
- 1. Recognize/ identify nouns and give examples of nouns.
- 2. Identify common nouns. Write examples of common nouns for person, place, thing, or animal.
- 3. Identify proper nouns. Give examples of proper nouns. Recognize proper nouns in simple sentences.
- 4. Differentiate common nouns from proper nouns Give common nouns of the given proper nouns.
- 5. Identify common and proper nouns in simple sentences, paragraphs or stories.
I am Christian Jake Gascon, A student who is currently studying for Bachelor of Elementary Education in Mabini Colleges, Inc. As a pre-service teacher, this student understands the importance of learning and developing effective teaching methods. This E-Portfolio demonstrates the effort we put in preparing quality learning resources for Grade 2 learners.
